Don’t Let Emergencies Derail Your RV Park: Craft a Solid Plan for Unforeseen Absences

March 18, 2024

I have been missing in action over the past several months due to my husband’s illness.  This has brought to the foreground something that I think most of us haven’t considered.  It’s a problem that sneaks up on all of us but it isn’t insurmountable given a little thought and consideration.

As RV park owners or managers, we never want to anticipate a situation where we cannot be present to oversee the operations of our park. This is especially true if you are the managing partner that is overseeing several parks.  However, as with any business, unexpected emergencies can happen. That’s why having a solid plan in place for such scenarios is essential to ensure that your park(s) continues to run smoothly even in your absence.

So, what steps can you take to create an emergency plan for your RV park(s)? Firstly, identify key personnel who can oversee specific areas of your park when you’re not around. This could include assigning responsibilities to your trusted employees or creating a succession plan to ensure there’s always someone in charge.

Next, make sure there’s clear documentation of your standard operating procedures, including emergency protocols. This will ensure that your employees are properly trained and aware of what to do in the event of an emergency.

Additionally, consider implementing a communication plan that includes providing important contact information to your key personnel, so they can quickly contact you or other necessary individuals if needed.

Remember, emergencies can happen at any time, so it’s crucial to regularly review and update your plan to ensure it’s up-to-date and effective.

In conclusion, having an emergency plan in place is a proactive step that can save you time, money, and stress in the long run. By taking the time to properly plan and prepare for unexpected situations, you can ensure that your RV park(s) continues to operate smoothly even in your absence.
